Concealable Multi-Threat Armor: The NovaSteel Breastplate is an excellent option for NIJ IIIA protection. At less than 0.1″ thick, it’s the thinnest Level IIIA armor ever made, and is lightweight and easily concealable. It offers comparable coverage to most soft armor systems. Backface deformation against the common handgun threats, e.g. 9mm FMJ, is extremely low, at less than 10mm on average. And unlike existing concealable armor, it also offers stab and spike protection up to the highest certified levels. Uparmorable Steel Plate Carrier: The breastplate is adaptable to more extreme circumstances. In fact, it’s a first-in-class plate carrier which can be up-armored with specially-built plates. Ultra-light RF1 plates are available now, which weigh just 1.7 pounds each, and enable the breastplate to handle NIJ Level III and similar rifle threats. RF2 plates are forthcoming. Up-armoring the breastplate requires two bolts, included with each breastplate, and can be done in minutes. The breastplate is constructed entirely from our proprietary NovaSteel alloy, which combines outstanding tensile strength and ballistic performance with formability. Can the NovaSteel Breastplate accommodate other types of plates besides the mentioned UHMWPE plates? No, other plates are not compatible. This is due to the nature of the attachment system, and due to the way the up-armor plate was designed to synergize with the breastplate. How easy is it to up-armor the NovaSteel Breastplate? Are any special tools or training required? All that’s required is to affix the up-armor plates to the inside of the breastplate with two bolts per up-armor plate. This is a quick, easy, and very secure solution. It doesn’t diminish comfort, either. Is the NovaSteel Breastplate comfortable for extended wear? How does it manage heat and sweat? The enhanced curvature, ventilation channels, and shoulder padding make for a system that is very comfortable to wear, even for extended periods of time. Sweat will run right off it, and the coating ensures that it won’t rust. That said, in very cold climates, you will want to wear it over clothing. The straps, which are replaceable, are guaranteed for five. How does the armor perform in extreme temperatures or wet conditions? The performance of the system is not affected by reasonable extremes of heat or cold, nor is it affected by humidity.
